CSD Construction launches a new project! This member-exclusive CSD initiative provides support, referrals and financial assistance to women apprentices, and raises awareness among industry players.

To quality, women workers must:

  • be a skilled trades apprentice* enrolled in the Red Seal program. Women workers qualified for the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) automatically qualify for this program.
  • Attend one of CSD Construction’s 45-minute RAIME workshops about best practices to recruit, onboard, integrate and retain women apprentices offered in several regions of Quebec.

*Elevator mechanic occupations and apprentices are not eligible as they are not recognized trades under the Red Seal program.

Financial support

As part of this program, expenses will be reimbursed and added to the financial support offered by the AIG. Expenses must be related to tools required for work and travel costs associated with project participation. Childcare costs may also be reimbursed under certain conditions.

An industry-wide project

The initiative will also train employers in best practices for recruiting, onboarding and integrating women apprentices. All of CSD Construction’s women workers will benefit from having access to a network of conscientious employers who recognize the added value that women apprentices bring. This is a step in the right direction towards maintaining a healthy and safe climate on construction sites.

Funded in part by the Government of Canada through its Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy.
