By passing the qualification examination, an apprentice can demonstrate that they have acquired the skills required to access the status of journeyperson.
Exam eligibility and registration
Apprentices wanting to take the exam for their trade or specialty can do so as soon as they have completed 85% of their required training.
Apprentices who have completed 100% of their apprenticeship will receive a letter from the CCQ indicating that they must register for the exam within a month of their apprenticeship ending or else their work permit will be suspended.
The apprentice must call the CCQ at 1-888-842-8282 to get their exam date.
A registration fee of $100 applies. It is non-refundable and valid for a 12-month period from the date of payment.
Preparing for success
When it comes to preparing for the exam, nothing beats the quality of the experience and skills acquired on the job or during training. However, apprentices must still prepare adequately to increase their chances of success.
