They are intended to help workers who may be affected by the current economic and political uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is an overview of the temporary measures that could benefit workers in our industry who plan to claim employment insurance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fewer hours needed and more paid weeks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As of April 6, 2025, there will be <strong>added flexibility in the required amount of hours worked<\/strong> <strong>to qualify<\/strong> for employment insurance (for some regions).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will also now be able to claim <strong>4<\/strong> <strong>additional weeks<\/strong> of EI benefits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These measures will be in place until July 12, 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You will receive your benefits faster<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From <strong>March 30, 2025,<\/strong> to October 11, 2025, <strong>there will not be a waiting period<\/strong>. That means you won\u2019t have to wait <strong>a week<\/strong> before starting to receive benefits. You will be paid as of your first week on EI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Separation earnings will not affect your benefits<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you receive <strong>severance pay<\/strong> or paid leave, you will now be able to <strong>claim EI benefits right away<\/strong>, even before those amounts have run out. This measure will be in place for 6 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are you claiming EI benefits now?
