{"id":238655,"date":"2024-02-29T15:43:17","date_gmt":"2024-02-29T20:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csdconstruction.qc.ca\/?p=238655"},"modified":"2024-05-16T16:16:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T20:16:22","slug":"were-calling-for-employment-insurance-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csdconstruction.qc.ca\/en\/2024\/02\/29\/were-calling-for-employment-insurance-reform\/","title":{"rendered":"We\u2019re Calling for Employment Insurance Reform"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We were in Gatineau on February 28, alongside activists from various CSD-affiliated unions, to manifest at the offices of Minister of Employment, Randy Boissonnault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We wanted to push the Liberal Party of Canada into fulfilling its 2015 promise to&nbsp;<strong>reform Employment Insurance, a promise which has yet to materialize.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are our demands:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fix the black hole issue by adding 15 weeks of benefits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make EI benefits available to every worker who has worked 420 hours or 12 weeks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure workers can combine regular and special benefits, such as Quebec Parental Insurance Plan payments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Limit exclusion criteria, including for voluntary departures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaven Bissonnette, CSD\u2019s Vice-President, delivered a speech on the subject.
