Power to the members<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At CSD Construction, decision-making power belongs to the members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REGIONAL UNIONS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

At CSD Construction, the power to decide belongs to the members. During the general assemblies, members can speak freely and decide on the union\u2019s orientations. They are responsible for developing and energizing union life, and they can establish their own demands, particularly during negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreements.
It is also up to the members to elect the leaders of their region (or \u201csection\u201d). Thus, the section union council is made up of section elected officials. They have the power to elect their officers union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


PROVINCIAL UNION<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The provincial union office brings together all the elected representatives of the eight regional unions, or \u201csections\u201d, for a total of 40 people. The provincial union office has 10 elected members: the president and vice-president of the union, as well as eight section directors, among whom the secretary and the treasurer are elected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSD Construction’s democratic approach relies on members getting involved in decision-making bodies. Our structure works with a decentralized union action model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what does that actually mean? During general meetings, the members decide what directions we take and what our union demands are. They have their say on the major issues the industry faces and they vote on CSD Construction’s directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, it’s up to the provincial union office to follow-up on their member\u2019s demands. They do that by sitting on a range of committees and keeping the workers they represent front and center in their everything they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make it easier for members to participate, we’ve divided Quebec into 8 sections and 26 sub-sections that are responsible for bringing the union to life in their area:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
