An easy way to save for retirement

As soon as you start working on a construction site, no matter your employee status, you’re eligible for the construction industry retirement plan. Your contribution amount is set by your collective agreement. It’s the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ) that administers the retirement plan’s funds.

Are you planning your retirement?

Many factors must be analyzed when establishing the retirement age: your age, the total number of hours worked, and the number of years you’ve participated in the retirement plan.

Eligibility of a worker who starting contributing to the retirement plan prior to 2005

  • When you turn 65 you’re eligible for retirement with no conditions
  • At age 55 you’re eligible for early retirement without reduction or early retirement with reduction
  • At age 50 you’re eligible for early retirement with reduction or disability retirement if you have a recognized total disability.

  • Retirement benefit payments cannot start before age 50.
  • When you retire, you need to get in touch with the CCQ to request the benefits application form.
  • Retirement is mandatory at age 70.

Eligibility of a worker who started contributing to the retirement plan after 2004

  • At age 55, you’re eligible for retirement, no matter how many hours you worked
  • At age 50, you’re eligible for retirement if your age + hours worked divided by 1,400 = 60 or higher.

  • Retirement benefit payments cannot start before age 50.
  • The pension from the complementary account is calculated based on age and the value of the complementary account at the time of retirement.
  • When you retire, you need to get in touch with the CCQ to request the benefits application form;
  • Retirement is mandatory at age 70.
