If you are subject to the training requirement to maintain your competency certificate, you should have received a letter from the CCQ in the mail in the week of September 6. Please have a look! You should also have received a text message on the phone listed in your account.
Workers who have entered the industry through an open labour pool must complete training courses every year to keep their competency certificate and their right to work in the construction industry.
Get paid to train
If you qualify, you could receive the $1,000 Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (if your trade is Red Seal designated, which includes all trades except elevator mechanics and occupations). Please note that you will not be eligible if, in your first year, you do not take a course included in one of the trade modules.
Tip: It’s always a good idea to sign up for three courses, so that you have a plan B if the course you’ve chosen is cancelled.
