Tax season is upon us, so we figured we’d give you a few tips to get your documents ready for your accountant.

MÉDIC premiums and tax credits

The CCQ sends RL-22 and T4A slips to people who have worked at least 1 hour during the year.

Amounts shown, even if 0, must be included on your income tax return to ensure you receive all the benefits to which you are entitled.

Make sure you have received your CCQ statements before sending in your taxes! You will receive these documents by mail if you have not already done so. They are also available via CCQ’s online services.

Union dues

Your union dues entitle you to a 10% tax credit at the provincial level and are 100% tax deductible at the federal level.

These amounts appear on the T4s and RL-1s that your employer(s) send you.

Your prescription drug deductible … is also deductible

The portion you pay for prescription drugs and health care services that is not covered by your MÉDIC (deductible) is also tax deductible. To get reimbursed, you must provide the receipts that MÉDIC sent you.

Tip: You can ask your pharmacist to provide you with a statement of the prescription drugs you purchased in 2023.

Depending on your situation, the CCQ may also send you other tax statements that should be included with your income tax return: salary insurance, compensation fund, retirement, etc. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about these statements.
